Dental Surgery Assistant / Dental Assistant

About the role

The Dental Surgery Assistant/Dental Assistant assists specialists in delivering dental care within the hospital, following established hospital policies, procedures and standards of dental care and practice. The role is split into primary duties (80%) and secondary duties (20%).

Key responsibilities

• Provide four-handed chair-side assistance to specialists during dental treatments and procedures.
• Ensure instruments and materials are ready for each appointment and maintain dental instruments properly.
• Comply with infection control standards and work safety regulations for handling instruments and equipment.
• Assist in cleaning, sterilising, sorting and packing instruments in the sterilisation area.
• Manage inventory in the assigned operatory and help with stock ordering.
• Assist with patient appointments and collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare providers.
• Secondary duties include taking part in service quality activities, coaching and guiding junior staff (for the Dental Surgery Assistant role), and accepting additional tasks assigned by the Clinic Supervisor or Clinic Manager.

Required profile

• Dental Surgery Assistant: minimum NITEC certification in Dental Assisting or equivalent qualification.
• Dental Assistant: minimum GCE "N" level certification.
• Proficient computer skills (MS Office).
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; a team player who can also work independently.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented, compassionate and with a positive, caring attitude.
• Strong interest in dentistry.
