Deputy Director (Chief Information Security Office & Governance)

About the role

The Deputy Director will lead the Chief Information Security Office and Governance function for MINDEF/SAF, shaping the strategic direction of cybersecurity across the ministry and its agencies. This senior position is responsible for ensuring operational readiness and aligning cyber‑risk management with whole‑of‑government policies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies, policies, standards and procedures in line with Whole‑of‑Government directives.
• Conduct organisation‑wide cyber risk assessments and drive risk acceptance decisions.
• Review, endorse and coordinate information security risk mitigation plans across stakeholders, ICT professionals and end‑users.
• Align IT initiatives with the strategic cybersecurity direction of the whole‑of‑government.
• Implement change‑management processes to respond to evolving cyber threats.
• Balance internal MINDEF/SAF policy requirements with broader government cybersecurity policies.

Required profile

• Degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in cybersecurity governance, risk management and compliance.
• Strong analytical, critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work across multiple agencies.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA or CRISC are advantageous.
