Deputy/Assistant Director, Cross-Border Payments (2-Year Contract)

About the role

This is a 2-year contract position for a Deputy/Assistant Director in cross-border payments. You will join a team driving the next generation of digital payment solutions and enhancements to Singapore's national payment schemes, through cross-border payment linkages with bilateral and multilateral partners. The role sits in the MAS building.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and expand Singapore's cross-border payments connectivity network by working with financial institutions, foreign regulators and international organisations, including Singapore's participation in Project Nexus, a multilateral connectivity project covering scheme governance, implementation and product development.
• Develop and refine policies and frameworks for the governance and risk management of cross-border linkages, including administration and scheme management.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with payment firms, foreign regulatory counterparts and international agencies to advance cross-border payment initiatives and joint projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a business, finance, technology or related field.
• Relevant experience in payments product development, public policy or payments regulations; experience in transactional banking, payments or launching new financial products is advantageous.
• Proactive, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of local and international payments systems, infrastructure and regulations.
• Effective verbal and written communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to influence across all levels.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
