Deputy/Assistant Director, Insurance (Contract)

About the role

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is recruiting a Deputy/Assistant Director, Insurance (Contract) to supervise a portfolio of insurance companies. The role safeguards the soundness and resilience of Singapore's insurance sector through a risk-based supervisory approach, and is a 1-year contract position.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a portfolio of insurance companies, assessing their financial resilience, governance, risk management and business conduct
• Engage senior management on key risks and emerging industry developments
• Analyse financial and risk information and evaluate the effectiveness of governance and control frameworks
• Contribute to supervisory actions that promote a safe, fair and trusted insurance sector
• Contribute to regulatory and supervisory policy initiatives and cross-functional projects

Required profile

• Experience in financial services, preferably in insurance, auditing, actuarial science, risk management, or a demonstrable interest in building expertise in this sector
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with direct interface with senior internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing risks in a fast-paced environment

Required skills

• Reasonably good with numbers and keen eye for detail
• Strong analytical skills, working at both conceptual and operational levels
