Deputy/Assistant Director, Monetary & Domestic Markets Management

About the role

The Monetary & Domestic Markets Management Department (MDD) conducts market operations to implement the Monetary Authority of Singapore's monetary policy and acts as the fiscal agent of the Singapore Government. This Deputy/Assistant Director role works within a tight-knit team of high-performing officers.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake foreign exchange intervention operations to manage the Singapore dollar within its policy band
• Gather market intelligence on developments in the SGD and regional FX markets, prepare analytical briefs and update senior management
• Lead projects to enhance the conduct of foreign exchange, including readiness for intervention during heightened market volatility
• Drive initiatives to improve market surveillance and analytical capabilities, including through the use of Generative AI
• Work with internal and external stakeholders such as government ministries, foreign central banks, primary dealers and other market participants

Required profile

• Interest in macroeconomics, financial markets or monetary policy
• Team player with a strong commitment to public service
• Analytical, detail-oriented, with a strong grasp of numerical concepts
• Good writing, communication and presentation skills; takes initiative and is self-driven
• Singapore citizen; no prior work experience or economics/finance degree required, as training is provided on the job
• Willingness to monitor foreign exchange markets overnight and to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
