Design Enablement Engineer Intern (Jan-Jun 2027)

About the role

GlobalFoundries is looking for a Design Enablement Engineer Intern to join its R&D and engineering team in Singapore, working on the characterization, validation and analysis of silicon photonic devices. The internship runs from January to June 2027 and offers hands-on experience with optical and electrical test equipment, data analysis and semiconductor testing.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in performing optical and electrical testing of silicon photonic devices at chip and wafer level, following established procedures and work instructions.
• Support test plans and ensure accurate collection and recording of measurement data.
• Analyze test data and prepare summaries, charts and reports for engineers and project teams.
• Help troubleshoot test issues and investigate measurement anomalies.
• Maintain laboratory test setups, equipment and testing environments.
• Contribute to automated test solutions, data collection tools and test workflows.
• Document test procedures, results, observations and lessons learned.
• Support other engineering projects as assigned and follow EHS and security requirements.

Required profile

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Optical Engineering or a related field, in good academic standing.
• Availability for a 16-24 week credit-bearing internship starting January 2027, working at least 40 hours per week.
• Preferred: prior internship or co-op experience, leadership experience, project management skills, interest in AI tools and optoelectronics, and strong collaboration skills.
