Design Engineer – Medical Device R&D

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer to join a leading medical device manufacturer and support the development of innovative medical technologies from concept through to manufacturing. This role offers the chance to work on cutting‑edge products in a regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify and evaluate medical device products from concept to production.
• Translate product specifications into functional, manufacturable designs.
• Develop and validate prototypes through testing and engineering evaluations.
• Prepare and maintain design documentation in line with engineering and quality standards.
• Perform design calculations, simulations and technical analyses.
• Research and troubleshoot engineering design challenges.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory Affairs and cross‑functional project teams.
• Support design verification and continuous product improvements.

Required profile

• Degree (BSc, MSc or PhD) in Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering, or a Technical Diploma with relevant experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical device product development (concept, prototype, testing, documentation).
• Strong communication and technical documentation skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks.
• Experience using simulation tools (Creo Simulate, Abaqus or equivalent).
• Knowledge of engineering standards (ASME, JIS or similar).
• Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (DOE, Minitab).
