Director of Centre for Technology and Development

About the role

The Centre for Technology and Development (CTeD) at Duke-NUS Medical School seeks an experienced, dynamic leader to drive strategic innovation and entrepreneurship across the institution. As a senior member of the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Director will shape the commercialization pipeline from discovery to market impact.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of a world‑class commercialization platform in partnership with SingHealth Duke‑NUS Academic Medical Centre.
• Build and manage a team of technology managers and commercialization professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Design and scale programs that catalyse translational research, venture creation, and entrepreneurship.
• Identify, assess, and protect high‑potential innovations, determining pathways for licensing or venture creation.
• Negotiate and execute licensing, investment, and partnership deals with global entrepreneurs, investors, and industry partners.
• Develop operating models, governance frameworks, and SOPs aligned with the mission of Duke‑NUS and its partners.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in technology transfer, commercialization, or innovation management within the life‑sciences sector.
• Strong track record of negotiating and closing licensing or investment transactions.
• Ability to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, clinicians, investors, and industry partners.
• Strategic mindset with a focus on translating research into real‑world health impact.

Required skills

• Expertise in technology transfer processes and intellectual property management.
• Experience in venture creation, licensing negotiations, and deal structuring.
• Knowledge of life‑science commercialization ecosystems and regulatory considerations.
