Director, PDE Advance Packaging NPI

About the role

Micron is looking for a Director to join its Package Development & Engineering (PDE) team, leading the Advanced Technology PEE & PIE team within PDE. The role provides strategic and operational leadership for New Product Introduction (NPI) of advanced packaging technologies, driving cross-functional alignment across Process Engineering, Process Integration, MRDA, PCS and Quality teams to ensure on-time product qualification and transition to High Volume Manufacturing (HVM). It leads a team of engineers and managers and sets the strategic and tactical direction for NPI.

Key responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction for NPI and own the execution plans, deliverables and milestones for assigned products and technology nodes
• Ensure defense line readiness before release, with quality control plans, OCAP/SPC charts and FMEA frameworks in place
• Partner with APTD, PDE, PSE, Global Quality, TSE, Site Manufacturing and Central Planning, and act as liaison between PDE and Global AT site teams on process transfers, tool readiness (TIQ) and qualification schedules
• Lead cross-functional reviews, Phase Gate Reviews and executive program updates, and support customer sample delivery and qualification
• Oversee NPI lot execution, data collection, process characterization and yield ramp, and drive RCA and CAPA for quality issues
• Ensure MRDA readiness, ADC setup/validation, sampling strategy and inspection methods, and oversee POS, VMP and DMP deployment
• Lead, develop and coach engineers and managers, manage performance, succession planning and staffing levels
• Monitor NPI KPIs (MLY, Process Cpk, Lot Disposition TAT, Phase Gate exit rates, Defect Pareto closure), run continuous improvement programs and champion best-known method documentation
• Integrate AI-assisted tools and data analytics into NPI workflows

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related technical field
• 10+ years in semiconductor manufacturing, with a strong background in process engineering, NPI or technology development
• 5+ years in a people leadership role (Manager or Director) managing multi-functional engineering teams
• Deep understanding of backend/assembly semiconductor processes and NPI phase gate frameworks
• Proven track record of delivering NPI milestones on time in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment

Required skills

• Data analysis tools such as JMP, Python or equivalent
• Preferred: experience with advanced packaging technologies (HBM, 3D stacking, wafer-on-wafer)
• Preferred: ability to influence and present to senior executives and cross-functional leaders
