Education Research Scientist – Child Development (CRCD)

About the role

The Centre for Research in Child Development (CRCD) at the National Institute of Education (NIE) seeks an Education Research Scientist to advance the science of child development in Singapore. The role involves leading interdisciplinary research that informs teaching practice, policy, and interventions for children from birth through primary school.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead high‑quality research projects, including large‑scale longitudinal studies and intervention trials.
• Develop competitive research proposals and secure external grant funding.
• Manage research teams, oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
• Collaborate with schools, families, and policymakers to translate findings into practice.
• Publish findings in high‑impact peer‑reviewed journals and present at academic conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Educational Technology or a related field.
• Minimum two years of post‑doctoral research experience with evidence of scholarly independence.
• Successful track record of securing competitive research grants.
• Strong publication record with first‑ or senior‑author papers in reputable journals.
• Commitment to research translation and impact on educational practice.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary, collaborative environments.
