Electrical Maintenance Engineer – Jurong Island

About the role

Sembcorp is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join its Gas & Related Services segment on Jurong Island. The role involves planning, executing and supervising routine and corrective maintenance of high‑voltage electrical equipment in a petro‑chemical environment, ensuring reliability, safety and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and carry out scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance (PM & CM) within defined timelines and budgets.
• Perform electrical switching operations, troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on MV/LV switchgear, HV/LV motors, 230 kV SF6 circuit breakers, 21 kV generator circuit breakers, VFDs, MOVs, HVAC systems, overhead cranes, battery chargers, UPS, transformers and protection systems.
• Inspect plant electrical condition per SOP, develop risk assessments and mitigation measures for each job.
• Apply for Permit to Work (PTW) and act as the Competent Person (CP) and Electrical Authorized Person (EAP) for high‑voltage isolation and de‑isolation.
• Supervise contractors, coordinate with other maintenance crafts and operations technicians, and manage spare parts inventory.
• Prepare daily maintenance updates for stakeholders and may join the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) after training.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant maintenance experience in a power plant or petro‑chemical facility.
• Ability to work safely with high‑voltage equipment and obtain necessary permits.

Required skills

• MV/LV switchgear operation and maintenance.
• HV/LV motor maintenance.
• 230 kV SF6 circuit breaker handling.
• 21 kV generator circuit breaker operation.
• Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and Metal‑Oxide Varistors (MOV).
• HVAC, overhead crane, battery charger and UPS systems.
• Transformer and electrical protection system knowledge.
• Static frequency converter and static excitation system expertise.
• Risk assessment and Permit‑to‑Work procedures.
• High‑voltage (>1 kV) isolation and de‑isolation skills.
