Embedded Software Engineer – Autonomous Robotics

About the role

We are looking for a talented Embedded Software Engineer to develop the hardware‑software integration layer for our autonomous cleaning robots. You will work at the intersection of embedded systems, robotics middleware and physical hardware, ensuring reliable performance across the fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain ROS‑based drivers for lidar, camera, ToF and other sensors.
• Profile driver performance and optimise for low latency and high throughput.
• Debug sensor communication over CAN, USB, UART, I2C and SPI in real‑world conditions.
• Design and maintain the communication bridge between the ROS stack and MCU‑based control system.
• Architect custom IPC protocols with strict backward compatibility.
• Implement and validate CAN, serial or custom protocol interfaces for robust telemetry.
• Own the end‑to‑end testing pipeline for IPC‑embedded interfaces, including integration and regression tests.
• Manage the bootloader update pipeline to ensure fault‑tolerant firmware upgrades.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or related field.
• Proven experience with C++ and Python development on Linux.
• Hands‑on experience with ROS 1/ROS 2.
• Familiarity with embedded communication protocols such as CAN, UART, I2C and SPI.
• Experience with STM32 or similar ARM Cortex‑M microcontrollers.
• Comfort using hardware debugging tools (oscilloscope, logic analyser, JTAG/SWD).
• Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
