Engineering Manager II - Deployment Platform

About the role

Grab is hiring an Engineering Manager II for its Deployment Platform team, which builds the next-generation deployment capability for all Grab engineers. The team has successfully migrated a significant portion of legacy workloads to its new platform and aims to bring joy, delight and excellence to the daily work of engineers. The role covers both backend and mobile-related tools and platforms and is based onsite at the Grab HQ in Singapore.

Key responsibilities

• Support teams of smart and engineers in building the next-gen deployment platform so engineers can run their products and services.
• Build foundational tools so engineers do not have to reinvent the wheel.
• Work with engineers to solve their custom problems and make them more productive.
• Architect efficient and scalable systems and write high-quality, well-documented code, keeping documentation up to date.
• Safely roll out large changes affecting hundreds of engineers.
• Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues.
• Take part in design discussions and code reviews.
• Be on call for the owned tools and platforms and take part in post-mortems for incidents.

Required profile

• At least 5 years in platform or software engineering, with 2+ years managing teams.
• Proven engineering management experience: setting roadmaps, leading a team and driving delivery.
• Ability to own prioritization and make independent technical decisions under ambiguity and time pressure.
• Strong cross-team collaboration and stakeholder communication across multiple concurrent priorities.
• An operations and stability mindset suited to critical systems.

Required skills

• Solid grasp of the software development lifecycle, from build, test and release to operation.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes / EKS and managed Kubernetes platforms.
• Experience with deployment and progressive delivery tooling (e.g. Argo, Spinnaker or equivalent) and multi-cluster or multi-region deployment patterns.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, release and rollout/rollback mechanics, containerized deployment and safe software shipping.
