Engineering Technician (Night 12-Hour Shift)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring an Engineering Technician in Singapore for a night shift of 12 hours. The role covers routine to moderately complex electro-mechanical technical work on electronics and electro-mechanical systems, with a focus on testing, troubleshooting and installation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine to moderately complex electro-mechanical functions such as design, test, checkout, fabrication, modification, troubleshooting and assembly of electronics and electro-mechanical systems, experimental circuitry, prototypes, test equipment, tools and test fixtures.
• Test and troubleshoot system-level and component-level problems in electrical and mechanical systems and sub-systems.
• Perform new system and NPI installations and field upgrades.
• Work from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or plans to carry out routine testing and troubleshooting.
• Compile logbooks and test procedure documentation.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and vacuum testing on AMAT platforms against engineering and manufacturing specifications.
• Generate quality notifications and assist in correcting problems; may perform rework after testing.
• Follow all safety standards, attend required health and safety training, report accidents and hazards promptly, and use protective equipment and hand and power tools correctly.
• Stay informed of manufacturing and engineering process changes.

Required profile

• Physically demanding position: long periods standing, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, colour discrimination, and operating heavy machinery such as forklifts.
• Ability to work in a noisy environment and in a clean room, where PPE such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons and face shields may be required.
• Analytical skills and application of scientific methods; problem-solving within own work area without supervisory approval; good understanding of how the team works together; no supervisory responsibilities.
