Facilities Engineer

About the role

GlobalFoundries is a full-service semiconductor foundry with a manufacturing footprint across three continents. As a Facilities Engineer, you will deliver facilities operation and engineering services, chiller and pump management services, and facilities equipment asset maintenance management to enable manufacturing operations. You typically perform one or more of these tasks as an individual contributor.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain, troubleshoot, repair and replace facilities mechanical components and systems such as electrical equipment, HVAC, chemical, energy, ultra water and wastewater treatment.
• Hire and oversee outside contractors such as electricians, elevator repairmen, grounds maintenance workers, painters, plumbers and roofers.
• Maintain and secure facilities equipment assets.
• Develop and implement capital improvement projects, including construction, remodeling, renovation and maintenance of buildings and facilities, covering concept development, detailed engineering design and bidding.
• Inspect work in progress and advise construction supervisors and contractors on plans and specifications.
• Inspect existing facilities, prepare reports on condition and deficiencies, and propose designs and estimated costs for repairs.
• Perform all activities safely and responsibly, supporting Environmental, Health, Safety and Security requirements and programmes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Around 3 years of experience handling facilities on the mechanical front.
• Hands-on experience with chillers and pumps.
• Ability to handle plumbers and contractors on site.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
