Financial Controller – Commodity Trading

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function for a commodity trading business operating across APAC. The role combines oversight of group finance, consolidation, and compliance with hands‑on involvement in structured commodity transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a finance team and oversee group consolidation, financial reporting, and statutory compliance.
• Drive cash‑flow management, inter‑company transfers, and robust financial controls over trading activities.
• Monitor P&L of trading desks, perform mark‑to‑market reporting, and ensure compliance with trade‑finance covenants.
• Coordinate audits, tax filings (including transfer pricing and BEPS), and other statutory requirements.
• Prepare dashboards, board packs, and executive presentations.
• Lead process‑streamlining and system‑enhancement initiatives in partnership with senior management.

Required profile

• Degree or ACCA qualification with at least 10 years of finance, accounting and tax experience.
• Significant exposure to commodity trading and trade finance/operations.
• Regional experience in APAC markets.
• Hands‑on, meticulous, agile, and accountable with strong communication and presentation skills.
• Prior Big 4 experience or exposure to structured finance/private equity is a plus.
