Group Accountant – Retail Finance

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on, commercially minded Group Accountant to join our Group Finance team. The role will support the retail finance function across the Group, handling sales reporting, inventory accounting, cost of sales reporting, and financial analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse monthly sales reports, including trends, product performance, margins and key business metrics.
• Oversee inventory accounting, record inventory transactions accurately and monitor stock movements, balances and valuation.
• Perform inventory reconciliations, investigate discrepancies promptly and support stock‑count exercises.
• Report sales, inventory balances, stock movements and cost of sales to finance and business stakeholders on time.
• Analyse sales performance, gross margins, inventory turnover and profitability, highlighting variances and risks.
• Maintain the full set of accounts for assigned entities, execute month‑end and year‑end closing activities and produce management reports.
• Partner with operations, procurement, commercial and management teams to provide financial insights, identify inventory risks and optimise working capital.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls and Group policies, and support process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong experience maintaining a full set of accounts.
• Hands‑on experience in retail finance, including sales reporting, inventory accounting, inventory reconciliations and cost of sales reporting.
• Experience in retail, trading, distribution, consumer products or other inventory‑intensive businesses is preferred.
• Experience in a multi‑entity or group finance environment.
