Head of Cyber Security and Technology Risk (MD)

About the role

The institution seeks a senior leader to own its cyber security and technology risk function. Reporting to senior management, the role balances day‑to‑day operational resilience with long‑term strategic risk management across the entire technology estate.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the technology risk and cyber security strategy, risk appetite, policies and standards.
• Oversee technology risk management, business continuity and cyber resilience initiatives.
• Maintain situational awareness of the cyber threat landscape and build threat‑intelligence capabilities.
• Own incident response protocols, lead major cyber incident handling and post‑incident reviews.
• Engage with regulators, industry bodies and external partners as the senior point of contact on cyber matters.
• Advise the Board Risk Committee and senior management on cyber security adequacy and ensure regulatory compliance.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in technology risk and cyber security within large organisations, preferably financial institutions.
• Deep understanding of financial technology systems such as payment, trading, clearing and settlement.
• Strong knowledge of emerging cyber security practices and their impact on the financial sector.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
