About the role

The Head of Department will drive AWWA School’s vision of empowering students to thrive in the community. This senior leadership position oversees curriculum, holistic student development, professional growth, and organisational management for the assigned domain/level/track.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programmes for the assigned domain/level/track.
• Customize pedagogy and assessment methods to enhance student learning experiences.
• Integrate IEP/ITP goals into lesson planning and collaborate with families and allied professionals.
• Design and deliver programmes that support character development and social‑emotional skills.
• Create professional development roadmaps and facilitate learning communities within the SPED sector.
• Provide mentorship, feedback and performance coaching to teachers and evaluate their progress.
• Lead cross‑functional teams to plan and execute school‑wide programmes, events and initiatives.
• Establish partnerships with families, community partners and allied professionals, and develop communication materials.
• Foster a culture of integrity, professionalism, collaboration and innovation; manage work plans, budgets and resources for the domain.
• Support induction programmes, assist in staff selection and participate in organisation‑wide initiatives.

Required profile

• Diploma in Special Education (minimum qualification).
