In-House Lawyer

About the role

SIA Engineering Company, the maintenance, repair and overhaul provider for Singapore Airlines, is hiring an in-house lawyer. The role covers commercial and operational contracts, litigation support, insurance matters and corporate governance, and reports to the Head of Department. Coverage is worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial and operational contracts, including customer and vendor agreements, cooperation and procurement agreements, NDAs, service agreements, HR/employment contracts, insurance covenants and IP/licensing agreements.
• Identify legal and contractual risks and give practical recommendations and solutions to the business.
• Advise on and manage litigation, including drafting statements of claim and affidavits, and instruct and work with external law firms.
• Coordinate with external and foreign lawyers and internal legal colleagues, and support insurance-related matters.
• Support corporate governance and corporate secretarial matters.
• Stay up to date with legal developments and advise proactively.

Required profile

• At least 7-9 years of post-qualification experience.
• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a Singapore or reputable international English-speaking university, called to the Singapore bar or another common law jurisdiction.
• Experience in a comparable in-house legal environment is an added advantage.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, critical thinking and analytical skills, professional judgment, accountability and decision-making.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with management-level stakeholders.

Required skills

• Solid corporate and commercial law experience.
• Proven expertise in commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
• Added advantage: experience advising on global trade (export controls/sanctions), data privacy, employment, competition and anti-bribery and corruption matters.
