Instrument Engineer

About the role

Evonik Methionine SEA Pte. Ltd. is looking for an Instrument Engineer to support plant engineering and production with technical expertise in E&I (electrical and instrumentation) systems. The role covers project leadership, troubleshooting, design and construction of DCS and safety system projects, and on-call duty, and requires willingness to work in a chemical plant environment on Jurong Island.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise to plant engineering and production through knowledge of E&I equipment, plant operations and maintenance methods, and contribute to quality, safety and environmental programmes.
• Lead and guide E&I projects, stay up to date with trends, identify suppliers and service providers, and cover all E&I systems in the area.
• Assist maintenance in troubleshooting by identifying root causes of failures and developing sustainable solutions.
• Plan, manage, estimate, design, construct and start up DCS, safety, instrumentation and electrical projects, including conceptual and detailed engineering, coordination with other disciplines, site supervision, budget and schedule control.
• Share knowledge of automation methods and field instrumentation with other N&C and Evonik sites.
• Train Maintenance and Operations teams on E&I-related process or equipment changes.
• Take over the E&I on-call engineer duties regularly and on a scheduled basis.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Process Control or similar.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in maintenance or engineering in a relevant industry.
• Sound knowledge of E&I and process control.
• Willingness to work in a chemical plant environment handling highly hazardous materials and to work on Jurong Island.
• Motivated, able to work under pressure, team-oriented and communicative.

• Office computer with standard software.
