Instrument Technician

About the role

We are seeking an Instrument Technician to join our team at the Tuas Boulevard Yard. The role involves installing, maintaining and commissioning instrumentation and control systems for marine, offshore and heavy‑industrial projects.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test and maintain electrical systems, equipment and devices.
• Read and interpret instrument drawings, loop diagrams, P&IDs, wiring schematics and electrical codes.
• Perform instrument commissioning, loop checking, function testing and system start‑up.
• Repair or replace equipment, fixtures and wiring following strict safety procedures.
• Calibrate field instruments such as pressure, temperature, flow and level transmitters.
• Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other HSE regulations on site.
• Support PLC, Distributed Control System (DCS), Emergency Shutdown (ESD), Process Shutdown (PSD), Process Control (PCS) and Fire & Gas (F&G) operations.

Required profile

• NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Instrumentation, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in instrumentation and control systems within marine, offshore, shipyard, oil & gas or heavy‑industrial environments.
• Ability to work at the Tuas Boulevard Yard and commence on short notice.
• Strong commitment to safety and HSE compliance.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting instrument drawings, loop diagrams, P&IDs and wiring schematics.
• Calibration of pressure, temperature, flow and level transmitters.
• Knowledge of PLC, DCS, ESD, PSD, PCS and F&G systems.
• Understanding of electrical codes and instrumentation standards.
• Proficiency with lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and safety protocols.
