About the role

ING Wholesale Banking APAC Finance is looking for a Finance Data & Analytics Intern to join its Singapore-based team. The internship sits at the intersection of finance and data, giving hands-on exposure to how a leading international bank uses Python, data visualisation tools and analytics to support decision-making across more than 10 APAC markets. It runs for 6 months, from January to June, and does not require a finance background.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in building and maintaining dashboards in Power BI or Tableau for financial KPI reporting
• Support data extraction, cleaning and transformation using Python (pandas, openpyxl)
• Help automate routine reporting tasks currently done manually in Excel, and run data quality checks and figure reconciliation
• Write and test Python scripts to load data from Excel/CSV into databases such as SQLite, and help schedule and maintain automation pipelines
• Build automated data pipelines and reporting templates for MIS data, and design self-service dashboards showing income, expense, RWA and client metrics
• Develop scripts to automate recurring reports and reduce manual work in month-end and quarter-end cycles
• Take part in AI and digitalisation projects under the guidance of the APAC Finance AI SPOC, including testing and documenting AI tools and prototypes

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering or a related field
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and good communication skills
• Good to have: understanding of financial concepts, interest in AI/ML in a business context, and exposure to Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Git/GitHub

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, including pandas and numpy
• Familiarity with Excel (pivot tables, formulas, basic data manipulation)
