About the role
We are seeking an IT Infrastructure & Security Systems Support Technician to maintain, monitor and troubleshoot servers, network equipment and security systems. The role will initially focus on video surveillance servers, video management software, network‑connected cameras and related infrastructure, with the opportunity to expand to other security systems.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, test and deploy Windows Server security patches and updates.
- Schedule maintenance windows with users, application owners and other stakeholders.
- Perform controlled server shutdowns and restarts for patching and upgrades.
- Conduct pre‑maintenance checks including backups, system health, disk capacity and service dependencies.
- Verify server, application, database, network and scheduled‑service availability after updates.
- Monitor server performance, capacity, security alerts and event logs.
- Troubleshoot failed patches, startup problems and service disruptions; perform rollback or recovery when required.
- Maintain patch records, server inventories, maintenance reports and technical documentation.
- Follow change‑management, cybersecurity, backup, disaster‑recovery and escalation procedures.
- Maintain video surveillance systems, VMS, recording servers, NVRs, IP cameras and related security devices.
- Troubleshoot connectivity, recording, playback, storage, access and system performance issues, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Provide on‑call or after‑hours support during planned maintenance and critical incidents.
Required profile
- Nitec, Higher Nitec or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems, server environments and computer networking including TCP/IP, IP addressing, switches, routers, DNS, DHCP and VLANs.
- Familiarity with video surveillance, CCTV, IP cameras, network video recorders or video management software is advantageous.
- Ability to follow technical procedures and conduct structured testing before deploying system changes.
- Comfortable performing hands‑on troubleshooting of hardware, software, servers and network connectivity.
- Willingness to learn new systems, equipment and technologies.
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks and escalate more complex issues when required.
- May be required to perform scheduled maintenance outside normal office hours, including weekends or public holidays.
