Java Full-Stack Engineer

About the role

A Java Full-Stack Engineer is sought based in Singapore to develop, maintain and support enterprise applications in a highly regulated environment. The role calls for strong Java backend skills, working knowledge of React, hands-on deployment experience and the ability to troubleshoot production issues and discuss technical matters with clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop and troubleshoot database queries and integrations to support application functionality and performance.
• Maintain and enhance React components, including their integration with backend APIs.
• Support application deployment and troubleshooting using GitLab CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Configure, integrate and troubleshoot API gateways and reverse proxies.
• Investigate production issues, analyse application logs, identify root causes and implement fixes.
• Remediate vulnerabilities in application code and dependencies and verify that the fixes work.
• Participate in, and where required lead, technical discussions with clients to clarify requirements, explain issues and recommend solutions.

Required profile

• Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot and RESTful API development.
• Solid database and SQL experience, including data integration and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of React and frontend integration with backend services.
• Experience with application and dependency vulnerability remediation.
• Good spoken English, able to communicate clearly with clients and explain technical concepts.

Required skills

• GitLab CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes.
• API gateway and reverse proxy technologies such as Nginx.
• Root cause analysis through log investigation and debugging.

Preferred: hands-on experience with Axway API Gateway or similar enterprise API management platforms; experience on Singapore government or public-sector projects or other highly regulated environments; exposure to GCC, GDC and/or OpenShift Container Platform environments.
