Junior Operator – Trade Operations

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Operator to support end‑to‑end trade operations for petroleum transactions. This entry‑level position offers exposure to the full lifecycle of commodity trades, from cargo scheduling to settlement, within a fast‑paced trading environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the execution of physical petroleum trades, coordinating cargo movements and contractual obligations.
• Liaise with internal trading, operations, finance, and risk teams to ensure timely trade execution.
• Communicate with counterparties, terminals, inspectors, shipping agents, and vessel operators to schedule and monitor shipments.
• Track vessel schedules, laycan windows, and shipping documentation to ensure compliance.
• Prepare, review, and process operational documents such as contracts, invoices, bills of lading, and letters of indemnity.
• Provide operational updates on shipment status, delays, or issues to stakeholders.
• Support trade settlement activities, including invoice verification and cost allocation.
• Assist in resolving documentation discrepancies and claims.
• Contribute to ad‑hoc projects and process improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Maritime Studies, Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or related field (preferred).
• 1–2 years of experience in trade, shipping, or commodities operations within oil & gas or related trading environments.
• Interest in crude oil operations and willingness to develop a career in commodities trading.
• Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑moving setting.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
