Lead IT Business Analyst – Trading & Investment Banking

About the role

The Lead IT Business Analyst will head a Singapore‑based team of Business Analysts, partnering with Middle Office, Market Risk, Product Control, Quantitative Analytics, Finance, Accounting and Settlements. The role blends people leadership, stakeholder engagement and hands‑on analysis to deliver strategic and operational projects for a trading and investment bank.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Business Analysts, handling performance management, mentoring and career planning.
• Establish and enforce BA best practices, quality standards and delivery methodologies.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Middle Office, Risk, Treasury, Finance and Operations, facilitating prioritisation and decision‑making.
• Gather, analyse and document business requirements, produce user stories, functional specifications and process documentation.
• Partner with developers, architects, QA and vendors to ensure alignment throughout the delivery lifecycle, supporting estimation, testing, UAT, training and deployment.
• Act as Product Owner for BAU initiatives, managing backlogs and prioritisation.
• Provide operational support, resolve functional queries and investigate production issues using data analysis.
• Work within Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery models and maintain documentation in Jira and Confluence.

Required profile

• 5–10 years of Business Analysis experience in commodities trading organisations, investment banks, Tier‑1 consulting firms or technology vendors serving capital markets.
• Proven experience supporting trading, risk, finance or post‑trade functions.
• Strong leadership capability with a track record of managing and developing analysts.
• Ability to work independently on complex business analysis and delivery ownership.

Required skills

• SQL – ability to query data independently.
• Jira – for issue tracking and backlog management.
• Confluence – for documentation and knowledge sharing.
