Lead Repair Development Engineer – Coatings

About the role

Join a global leader in advanced energy technology as a Lead Repair Development Engineer focusing on high‑performance gas turbine component coatings. You will drive the development and optimisation of coating processes that improve durability, reliability and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate and optimise coating systems using HVOF, thermal spray and related surface‑engineering technologies.
• Investigate coating failures such as adhesion loss, corrosion, blistering, cracking, peeling and environmental degradation.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply‑chain and global engineering teams to implement processes and resolve production issues.
• Provide technical support to internal stakeholders, customers and suppliers on coating applications and performance.
• Prepare technical reports, qualification documents, engineering recommendations and test plans.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives, applying Lean manufacturing principles and engineering best practices.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Mentor junior engineers and lead small engineering projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5–10 years of experience with HVOF, thermal spray, coatings or surface‑engineering technologies.
• Strong knowledge of coating processes, material performance and repair development.
• Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous‑improvement methodologies, RCA and CAPA.
