Lead Robotics and Automation Engineer

About the role

This role develops and enhances repair technologies by integrating customer and operational data and improving product reliability, availability, maintainability, safety and overall performance. It supports departmental operations through the planning and execution of repair-development activities, with a degree of autonomy within established functional practices and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, qualify and industrialise repair processes using industrial robotics technologies, including transferring new and updated processes to repair facilities.
• Programme and operate industrial robotic systems to deploy special processes within Repair Engineering.
• Support the integration of ancillary equipment and components with robotic control systems.
• Execute repair-development strategies and deliver programme objectives, applying technical knowledge and previous experience.
• Evaluate and propose solutions outside established parameters and resolve complex technical issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and internal stakeholders, and provide informal technical guidance and knowledge sharing to new team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline from a recognised university.
• Relevant experience in engineering, technology, repair development or a related technical environment.
• Experience in repair-process development, process qualification or industrialisation.
• Ability to analyse technical issues and develop practical solutions.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of industrial robotic systems, including programming and operation.
• Desirable: knowledge of automation or electrical engineering, especially the integration of ancillary equipment with robotic control systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, and good written and verbal communication.
• Ability to document, plan and execute technical programmes, and to manage projects and stakeholders.
