Lead Systems Engineer, IT Network Communications (Core DC)

About the role

Singapore Airlines is looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to own the architecture, design, implementation and day-to-day operation of the group's core data centre network. The role keeps mission-critical services highly available, performant and secure, with a focus on automation and AI-enabled operations to reduce toil, improve incident response and strengthen resilience at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Service operations and reliability: support core DC networking (routing/switching, segmentation, connectivity); drive incident, problem, change and configuration management; act as technical lead during major incidents with deep-dive troubleshooting, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions; plan and execute complex changes with risk assessment, readiness checks, back-out plans and post-change validation; maintain and improve configuration, runbooks and SOPs.
• Automation and AI-enabled operations: design and build automation for config deployment, validation, compliance, health checks and reporting using Ansible, Python and APIs; apply AIOps (event correlation, anomaly detection, predictive alerting) to reduce MTTR and scale automation patterns.
• Security operations: operate and improve the security posture of the DC network, support micro-segmentation and Zero Trust controls, and drive remediation of security and resiliency gaps through engineering changes and automation.
• Vendor and service delivery: work with vendors and stakeholders, track incidents and tickets to meet SLAs, and take part in service delivery reviews.
• Continuous improvement: identify operational pain points and improve processes, tooling, monitoring and automation, and take part in POCs and lab validations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 6+ years of hands-on network operations or engineering experience in a multi-vendor environment.
• Strong DC networking fundamentals (routing/switching, troubleshooting, complex change execution).
• Experience with incident, problem and change management, RCA and service reliability, and with process re-engineering and automation.
• Experience in core DC networking, security and/or network automation in two or more areas.
• Team player who can manage conflict and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Ansible, Python and APIs (or willingness to build it quickly).
• Familiarity with segmentation, micro-segmentation and operational security hygiene.
• Certifications such as Cisco, F5, Palo Alto or Check Point (or equivalent).
• Awareness of AIOps and AI trends applied pragmatically.
