Lecturer / Consultant – Human‑Centred Design & AI Research

About the role

The position combines academic lecturing with consultancy in human‑centred design research. You will lead research projects, develop curriculum, and work closely with industry partners to translate insights into practical design solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end human‑centred design research to inform service, product, system and information architecture decisions.
• Apply mixed research methods and behavioural experimentation, leveraging AI tools for analysis and synthesis.
• Translate research insights into design artefacts, IA frameworks and evidence‑based recommendations.
• Develop research outputs, tools and frameworks that support evaluation, grants and industry engagement.
• Collaborate with faculty, students and industry partners on co‑design sessions and research readouts.
• Deliver lectures, tutorials and supervise interdisciplinary student projects.
• Design and deliver curriculum using technology to enhance learning.
• Engage with professional bodies to stay current with industry trends.
• Offer professional workshops and continuing‑education programs for working adults.

Required profile

• Qualification in Design (Human‑Centred Design, UX/UI, Interaction Design) or a related field.
• Strong grounding in human‑centred design research, service design and information architecture.
• Experience applying mixed research methods in academic or industry contexts.
• Working knowledge of AI tools for research analysis and design support.
• Proven ability to translate research into practical design outcomes.
• Experience supervising interdisciplinary student projects.
• Track record of collaboration with industry partners or funded projects.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for sharing knowledge with students, public and corporate clients.
