Lecturer - Culinary Skills

About the role

ITE College West is recruiting a Lecturer in Culinary Skills. Beyond teaching and facilitating learning, the lecturer helps recognise and nurture students' potential and their lifelong learning needs.

Key responsibilities

• Teach culinary skills to students.
• Carry out industry or consultancy projects to stay relevant in the profession and keep strong links with industry and schools.
• Take part in regular industry attachments or experience to update skills, knowledge and practice.

Required profile

• A team player with a strong passion to teach, with at least 3 years of experience in Asian cuisine and/or Western cuisine.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and supervisory experience are essential.
• Proven knowledge of food recipe formulation and development.
• Experience in culinary competitions is an advantage.
• Senior Lecturer or equivalent positions are available, with career development towards leadership roles in the Colleges or Headquarters.

Required skills

• Asian cuisine: knowledge of local herbs and spices and cookery methods for Chinese, Malay, Peranakan and Indian recipes.
• Western cuisine: a sound culinary foundation in French, Italian, Nordic or Spanish cooking.
• Familiarity with modern kitchen equipment and involvement in digitalisation or modernisation of the kitchen.
