Lecturer / Senior Lecturer, Hospitality (Tourism, Events, Hotel & F&B)

About the role

Republic Polytechnic is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer for its School of Hospitality. This dual-function role combines academic teaching with leading the strategic planning, execution and management of the school's student internship programme, acting as the bridge between the institution and industry.

Key responsibilities

• Foster a supportive environment for students through pastoral care and guidance on their educational and career paths.
• Develop and review module curriculum with engaging learning activities aligned with programme and module outcomes for pre-employment training (PET) and continuing education and training (CET).
• Deliver lessons effectively through good class management and supervise students in projects and other curricular activities.
• Set, invigilate and grade assessments, and handle administrative and academic affairs for the programme.
• Oversee the end-to-end administration of the student internship programme, including setting assessment rubrics, compliance guidelines and evaluation frameworks for local and overseas internships.
• Conduct internship briefings, pre-departure orientations for overseas stints and post-internship debriefs.
• Manage student safety, welfare and crisis protocols, especially for students stationed abroad.

Required profile

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, management and writing skills.
• Resourceful team player who is trustworthy, independent and proactive.
• Strong conceptual thinking, problem-solving and ability to mediate classroom discussions and evaluate reasoning.
• Able to analyse student results and performance and introduce effective interventions.
• Teaching experience in hospitality and tourism management, events and project management, hotel and leisure management, or restaurant and culinary management is preferred.

Required skills

• Digital literacy, ethical use of information and collaboration via digital tools.
• AI literacy covering AI fundamentals, data science, AI tools and automation, natural language processing (NLP), AI ethics and prompt engineering.
