School Counsellor, Office of Student Support

About the role

The School Counsellor works with staff, students, parents, external professionals and community agencies to provide quality counselling support for students' mental health and social-emotional development. The role covers individual and group counselling, crisis intervention, case management and supporting the wider counselling team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counselling to students, documenting case notes and records
• Conduct crisis intervention and manage affected students
• Manage cases with staff, parents and external agencies to extend support for students
• Help the counselling team identify students with challenges early and refer them appropriately
• Plan training programmes and wellness campaigns on mental health, and run workshops for students and staff
• Handle administrative duties such as minutes, reports, presentations, policy drafting, budgeting and procurement
• Advise school management on counselling matters and network with external professionals and agencies

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Counselling, with at least two years of work experience in education, counselling and/or youth-related volunteering
• Registered counsellor with the Singapore Association for Counselling or equivalent; social work or case management experience is an advantage
• Applicants with at least 8 years of direct-care counselling experience, preferably in tertiary education, may be considered for a Team Lead position overseeing the counselling team and Student Care Centre
