Legal Counsel – Investments & Projects, Asia Pacific

About the role

Maersk’s APM Terminals is seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel to support investments and projects across Asia Pacific. Reporting to the Head of Legal, Projects & Investments, the role provides practical legal advice throughout the project lifecycle, from investment to operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Act as trusted legal advisor on infrastructure investments and project delivery, coordinating with regional and global legal, finance, tax and compliance teams.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex project, construction and development agreements, including EPC and FIDIC‑based contracts.
• Advise on concession tenders, joint ventures, greenfield and brownfield projects, and manage risks such as delays, variations, claims and dispute avoidance.
• Negotiate with partners, contractors and governmental authorities while safeguarding commercial interests.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer from a recognised jurisdiction, common‑law qualification preferred.
• At least 8 years post‑qualification experience, ideally in a leading law firm and in‑house role within a multinational organisation.
• Strong experience in major projects, infrastructure investments and international commercial transactions.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and commercial judgement with ability to influence senior stakeholders.
