Legal Counsel

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join a leading bank with a strong focus on the APAC region. The successful candidate will provide practical, commercially‑sound legal advice across a wide range of banking products, services and operational matters.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver timely and pragmatic legal advice on banking and finance matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate loan documentation, commercial agreements, client documentation, vendor contracts and other legal instruments.
• Identify, assess and propose mitigation strategies for legal risks linked to business activities, new initiatives and transactions.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of internal legal policies, procedures and training programmes.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external counsel as required.
• Report and escalate potential legal risk issues to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree.
• Qualified banking and finance lawyer with a minimum of 5 years post‑qualification experience.
• Experience gained within a bank’s legal department, a financial institution, or a reputable law firm specialising in banking and finance.
• Strong analytical, drafting and legal research abilities.
• Capability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice.
