Legal Counsel – Maritime

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide expert advice on maritime and shipping matters for a global transport and logistics business. The role involves close collaboration with regional stakeholders to ensure legal compliance and support business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance on shipping and maritime-related contracts, charter arrangements, agency agreements, guarantees, and indemnities.
• Support compliance programmes, including sanctions, anti‑bribery, anti‑corruption, and antitrust initiatives.
• Handle corporate and transactional work such as financing, M&A activities, joint ventures, and corporate structuring.
• Advise on governance frameworks and monitor legal developments affecting the business.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years' post‑qualification experience in private practice or in‑house.
• Strong background in commercial, corporate, regulatory, or transportation‑related legal matters.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Exposure to shipping, logistics, transportation, or maritime industry is preferred.
