Legal Counsel – Maritime Law (APAC)

About the role
The Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel will provide expert maritime legal advice across the APAC region, supporting both day‑to‑day operations and strategic business development initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a range of maritime‑related agreements with customers, vendors and partners.
- Advise on contentious matters such as idle full management, detention, demurrage recovery and non‑insured disputes.
- Support daily operations of the maritime business.
- Assist on maritime legal work‑streams in strategic projects, including cargo transport‑related business development.
- Work with and manage external legal counsels.
- Undertake any other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Required profile
- Qualified solicitor and/or barrister in Singapore (preferred).
- Minimum 5‑10 years post‑qualification experience in a law firm and/or in‑house setting.
- Strong commercial background with experience in maritime law.
- Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating maritime contracts.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse personalities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic, deadline‑driven environment.
- Motivated, high‑energy with a strong work ethic and proven problem‑solving skills.
