Legal Counsel (Maritime Law)

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Counsel specialized in maritime law to provide comprehensive legal support for cross‑border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic investments. The role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders to assess risks, structure transactions and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support for cross‑border M&A, joint ventures and strategic investment transactions.
• Partner with business stakeholders on transaction structuring, risk assessment and mitigation, offering constructive challenge on commercial viability.
• Coordinate legal and compliance due diligence with internal teams and external counsel.
• Support post‑acquisition integration, corporate secretarial matters, corporate advisory work and regulatory filings, including competition law compliance.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of legal and commercial agreements.
• Assist with compliance matters such as advisory work, training initiatives, third‑party due diligence, sanctions screening and internal investigations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a recognised institution, with admission to practice law preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in private practice or an in‑house legal function, with exposure to corporate law, M&A or compliance.
• Strong ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
