Legal Counsel (Shipping/Maritime)

About the role

Our client, an established international organisation operating in a highly regulated technical industry, is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its shipping and maritime business. Reporting to senior legal leadership, the role offers broad exposure to cross‑border legal matters and the chance to influence strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal support across employment, intellectual property, data privacy, disputes, insurance and insolvency matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts and other legal documentation.
• Conduct legal research and contribute to internal policies, governance frameworks and strategic projects.
• Manage external counsel and identify legal risks, delivering practical, business‑focused solutions.

Required profile

• LL.B. or J.D. from a recognised university.
• Admission to a common‑law bar with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong drafting, analytical and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Commercially minded with the capacity to handle sensitive legal matters collaboratively.
