Maintenance Technician Class 1 Boiler

About the role

A globally established specialty chemicals manufacturer is looking for an experienced Shift Maintenance Technician / Mechanical Fitter to join its maintenance team at Jurong Island. The role supports critical plant equipment, industrial boiler systems and overall manufacturing reliability. The working arrangement is 12-hour rotating shifts, with company transport provided at designated pick-up points.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on plant machinery, rotating and static equipment to minimise production downtime.
• Troubleshoot, maintain and support the start-up and shutdown of industrial boiler systems.
• Carry out routine equipment inspections, identify faults and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate and supervise contractors, vendors and service providers, ensuring work is done safely and to standard.
• Apply Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and risk assessment procedures.
• Interpret engineering drawings, technical diagrams and maintenance documentation.
• Support equipment upgrades, plant improvement projects and prepare maintenance and inspection reports, closing SAP work orders on time.
• Collaborate with production, engineering and maintenance teams and comply with SHE standards and good housekeeping.

Required profile

• Minimum Higher Nitec in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant maintenance experience, preferably in chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas or related process manufacturing.
• Mandatory Boiler Attendant Class 1 certificate.
• Hands-on mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting experience, and knowledge of industrial boiler start-up and shutdown.
• Familiarity with PTW, LOTO, risk assessment and workplace safety; SAP or CMMS experience is an advantage.
• Additional certifications in forklift operation, working at height, risk assessment and permit-to-work are an advantage.
• Able to work independently and in a team, willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts and overtime when needed.

• Remuneration package of up to $5,000 basic salary plus shift allowances exceeding $1,000.
