Manager, Agriculture and Aquaculture Research

About the role

A research position is open for an accomplished scientist to contribute to research on the genetic improvement of aquaculture and agricultural species. The successful candidate will support research that combines advanced science and technology with practical breeding applications to improve productivity, disease resistance, environmental resilience and sustainable food production.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and contribute to research in aquaculture and agricultural genetics and breeding.
• Design and run research projects using genetic, genomic and breeding approaches.
• Contribute to research proposals and external grant applications.
• Publish research findings in reputable international journals.
• Guide junior research staff and students where appropriate.
• Take part in multidisciplinary collaborations with academic, government and industry partners.
• Help turn research findings into practical breeding applications.

Required profile

• PhD in Genetics, Genomics, Aquaculture, Agriculture, Animal Science, Plant Science, Molecular Biology or a related field.
• Strong publication record in international peer-reviewed journals.
• Experience in research proposals and grant applications, and in mentoring junior staff and students.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams and collaborative research projects.

Required skills

• Research expertise in one or more of: aquaculture genetics and breeding; crop genetics and molecular breeding; quantitative genetics and genomic selection; genome editing and functional genomics; reproductive biology and biotechnology; AI- and data-driven breeding; precision breeding for climate resilience; disease resistance and host-pathogen interactions; sustainable food production and food security.
