Manager (Engineering), Digital Innovation Studio

About the role

The Digital Innovation Studio (DIS) sits within the Digital Innovation Office (DIO) of the Centre for Healthcare Innovation (CHI), which drives NHG Health's digital transformation across Digital Hospital, Digital Community and the HEAL launchpad. Reporting to the Assistant Director of DIS, the Manager (Engineering) manages the studio's proof-of-concept platforms, including multi-cloud sandbox environments, and keeps full technical understanding of their AI and/or IT standards. The role works with NHG project teams to prototype digital solutions and takes part in user-engaged product iteration and technology ecosystem stewardship.

Key responsibilities

• Design and support lightweight prototypes, including front-end interfaces, back-end services and workflow components, translating business needs into designs that respect security and scalability.
• Write technical documentation such as PRDs covering human-in-the-loop workflows, guardrails and safety mechanisms, and architecture diagrams.
• Maintain multi-cloud sandbox environments (AWS, Azure and/or GCP), including user onboarding, resource provisioning and access management.
• Optimise other enterprise prototyping platforms so users can build solutions with pre-established services and reusable patterns.
• Advise project teams on cloud providers and healthcare IT vendors, and help design prototypes aligned with target deployment environments.
• Support the studio in secretariat or administrative work where needed.
• Deliver hands-on training workshops on modern software development practices and cloud-based tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or equivalent.
• 5 years of hands-on engineering experience (front-end or back-end in a cloud environment).
• Ability to build and iterate prototypes with traditional stacks (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python.NET) and low-code/no-code tools within enterprise security constraints.
• Familiarity with cloud environments, containerised deployments and enterprise integration patterns.
• Desired: healthcare experience or familiarity with HL7/FHIR, cybersecurity awareness, vendor partnership experience and flexibility to adopt new platforms.
