Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering

About the role

Databricks is seeking a Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering to lead a high‑performing team of Forward Deployed Engineers and AI Engineers in Singapore. The role partners with strategic enterprise accounts to drive lakehouse migrations, build next‑generation AI and GenAI solutions, and deliver measurable business value from data investments.

Key responsibilities

• Drive regional performance targets, including billable utilisation, team growth and hiring across the ASEAN/GCR portfolio.
• Lead high‑stakes enterprise engagements, collaborating with Account Executives and Field Engineering to deliver data migrations, AI/ML platforms and advanced analytics programs.
• Establish delivery governance and operational rigor, defining best practices for project oversight, risk management and quality standards.
• Serve as executive escalation point for critical customer situations, using technical credibility to protect strategic relationships.
• Mentor and develop technical talent, creating structured career pathways and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous growth.

Required profile

• 4+ years of people‑leadership experience managing technical delivery or professional services teams.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience as a solutions architect or data/AI engineer.
• Proven success leading large‑scale data platform migrations and AI/ML programs in enterprise environments.
• Strong executive presence and stakeholder‑management skills, with experience influencing C‑suite leaders.

Required skills

• Databricks platform, Apache Spark™, MLflow and Delta Lake.
• Design and execution of data platform migrations and modern data architectures.
• AI/ML development, including generative AI and MLOps pipelines.
• Experience with cloud‑based data and AI ecosystems.
