Manager, Professional Officers Division (BSHS)

About the role

Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) is seeking an experienced Technical Officer (Manager) to oversee the Business, Social & Health Sciences (BSHS) laboratory operations and maintenance. The role leads a team of Technical Officers and acts as the main liaison with key stakeholders, reporting to the Assistant Director (Lab Operations & Sustainability) and working closely with the Team Lead (Lead Professional Officer), BSHS. It is a fixed-term position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily laboratory operations and maintenance, keeping labs safe, clean and ready for teaching, research and training.
• Plan and manage laboratory budgets and resources, and manage procurement of laboratory equipment and consumables.
• Develop and run an inventory system for consumables and equipment, and manage user loans and availability.
• Maintain laboratory documentation such as equipment manuals, risk assessments, Material Safety Data Sheets, service reports and safety certificates.
• Monitor, collect and analyse laboratory utilisation data, and help design and improve the lab to keep it industry-relevant.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency, utilisation and user experience.
• Ensure a safe lab environment in line with safety regulations, including routine safety checks and managing user risk assessments.
• Supervise a team of Technical Officers, manage their workload and performance, and coach and guide them.

• Proven experience in laboratory management, operational planning and budgetary management.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement.
• A strong people leader committed to excellence, safety and continuous improvement.
