Manager / Senior Manager, Online Safety Regulation

About the role

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is looking for a Manager / Senior Manager to join its Online Communications Office. The office operates and enforces IMDA's online safety and misinformation regulations across online communication services such as social media services and app distribution services, tests their compliance, engages government and industry stakeholders, and scans emerging online safety risks. The role shapes online safety regulation in Singapore.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse emerging online safety and misinformation trends, especially technical developments such as child safety measures and age assurance, and recommend regulatory approaches.
• Develop and implement data-driven compliance assessment approaches for online services such as social media and app stores, and engage industry to strengthen compliance.
• Assess potentially harmful online content and take regulatory action where needed.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across IMDA and the Government to share information and operationalise regulations.
• Project manage complex workstreams and deliver outcomes on time.

Required profile

• Background in Humanities, Social Sciences, Mass Communications, Computer Science or Data Science.
• 5-8 years of experience in online safety or technology-related policy, product, programme management or operations roles in the private or public sector; grade set by experience level.
• Strong interest in online safety and good technical knowledge of child safety and age assurance measures.
• Experience leading or contributing to cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• Strong analytical, reasoning, writing and project management skills with a strategic perspective.
• Proactive, curious and able to solve problems independently.
• Experience with statistics and data is an advantage.
