Senior Manager / Manager, Specialised Matters, Appeals and Reconsideration (SAR)

About the role

The Online Safety Project Office was set up to protect victims of online harm, who often have no effective way to stop it, especially when perpetrators act anonymously. SAR is the team within the Office responsible for reconsideration, appeals and other specialised casework, supporting victims in matters such as identifying perpetrators and ensuring the Office's decisions are robust, properly reviewed and able to withstand scrutiny.

Key responsibilities

• Handle applications by victims for end-user identity information (EUI) of perpetrators of online harm
• Handle applications for reconsideration of decisions
• Assist in matters relating to appeals against decisions
• Establish relevant standard operating procedures
• Develop, maintain and manage a registry for EUI, reconsideration and appeals
• Work with stakeholders to strengthen online safety
• Manage the knowledge management of the Office's work

Required profile

• Background in Law, Public Policy, Regulatory Affairs or a related field, with a strong understanding of legal frameworks
• Able to operate at the frontier of a new regime, develop frameworks for untested situations and make principled decisions on matters without precedent
• Experience in case management, appeals administration or regulatory compliance within digital safety or telecommunications sectors
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, including working across internal and external parties on sensitive regulatory matters
• Knowledge of online safety regulations, digital harm prevention and the Online Safety (Relief and Accountability) Act is highly advantageous
