Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in Singapore. The engineer develops and maintains methods, operating sequences and processes for fabricating parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies, and works with other engineering functions to coordinate the release of product improvements and new products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain methods, operating sequences and processes for fabrication of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies.
• Coordinate with other engineering functions the release of product improvements and new products.
• Use DFx principles to estimate and reduce manufacturing and product costs and to improve product quality.
• Determine time standards and recommend tooling and process requirements.
• Develop and use test procedures, evaluate test results and assess work methods, procedures and policies.
• Identify root causes of issues arising during assembly or system testing, perform Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis and provide reports as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering.
• 2-4 years of related experience.
• Good understanding of manufacturing principles and the semiconductor industry.
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment where a cleanroom suit is compulsory.
• Physical demands include prolonged standing, walking, working in tight spaces, lifting and using hand and power tools; cleanroom PPE such as coveralls, hoods, boots, safety glasses, gloves, respirators and face shields may be required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Familiarity with CAD or engineering drawings and GD&T is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.
