Mechanical Engineer - Rotating Equipment Maintenance

About the role

A global chemical manufacturing company based in Jurong Island, Singapore, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer focused on rotating equipment maintenance. The position is permanent with AWS and a variable bonus, with working hours Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, and company transport provided to the site.

Key responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering expertise to support safe, reliable and continuous plant operations.
• Develop, implement and monitor short-term engineering and maintenance plans.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and plant issues to minimise downtime.
• Support preventive, corrective and reliability-centred maintenance across assigned plant areas.
• Analyse equipment performance data and maintenance history to find recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
• Conduct root cause analysis and lead or take part in hazard studies, risk assessments and incident investigations.
• Improve equipment design, functionality and overall plant performance.
• Maintain equipment records, technical datasheets and maintenance history in the SAP system.
• Manage engineering projects from start to finish and coordinate with contractors, suppliers, consultants and regulators.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including rotating equipment maintenance.
• Experience in a plant-based environment, preferably in chemical, pharmaceutical, oil and gas or manufacturing.
• Comfortable working in an operational plant, including mostly outdoor areas.
• Good understanding of plant equipment, utilities systems and maintenance activities.

Required skills

• Familiarity with SAP maintenance systems or maintenance log modules.
• Root cause analysis methodology.
• Project coordination with contractors and vendors.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
