Microbiology Laboratory Technical Associate

About the role

Becton Dickinson (BD), a global medical technology company, is hiring a Microbiology Laboratory Technical Associate at its Tuas plant in Singapore. The role supports microbiology laboratory operations and ensures high standards of product quality, sterility and regulatory compliance. You will carry out microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, laboratory support and validation-related tasks while following GMP, safety requirements and the company's Code of Ethics.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare culture media and perform routine and ad-hoc microbiological tests such as product bioburden, biological indicator sterility, endotoxin, sterilization dose audits, product sterility and culture media sterility and growth promotion tests.
• Perform Gram staining and other laboratory procedures, and observe, record and maintain accurate microbiological data.
• Carry out environmental monitoring in manufacturing and production areas and maintain laboratory cleanliness and housekeeping.
• Send samples to external sterilization facilities and testing laboratories.
• Support equipment validation, ETO sterilization validation and revalidation, and biological indicator placement audits and titer checks.
• Assist in investigations of out-of-specification results, contamination control and hygiene practices.
• Take part in continuous improvement, Kaizen activities and safety, quality and compliance programmes.

Required profile

• Diploma in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with GMP and quality systems in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of aseptic techniques, contamination control and microbiological testing methods.
• Ability to record, maintain and analyse laboratory data, with strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing and laboratory environment; prior experience in environmental monitoring, sterilization validation or microbiological testing is an added advantage.
